Denise Mudigere focuses her practice on representing individuals and entities in all stages of federal civil and criminal tax controversies. She represents clients in US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) examinations, administrative appeals, and litigation. Denise has settled multiple tax disputes in administrative proceedings and with IRS legal counsel—avoiding litigation in court, when possible. Denise has had some excellent results representing multinational companies, negotiating settlements, in Tax Court, defending against accuracy-related penalties, Appeals mediation and advising a testifying expert witness on procedures and strategies. She has also assisted a foreign federal government in drafting fair tax collection legislation.
Denise is active in the pro bono community and has assisted in several tax matters for low-income individuals. While in law school, Denise served as Editor-in-Chief of the SMU Law Review.
