Colin Nicholson
Principal
Colin is a Principal in Withum’s Financial Services and Investment Group as well as being a member of our Entrepreneur Advisory team. He has more than 25 years of experience auditing private investment companies (hedge, PE/VC/RE) as well as banks, insurance companies and professional service firm. He has extensive experience with GAAP and IFRS, including valuation estimates for investments across a diverse range of asset classes. Colin also has experience with buy side private equity deal analysis and due diligence. Colin is a former equity partner with a Big 4 firm in the Cayman Islands and held several leadership roles during his tenure over which timeframe the firm experienced significant growth. With his advanced skillsets and experience involving financial analysis and development of a high growth organization, along with a deep understanding of the private equity and investment management industry, Colin is well placed to work with investment managers and investors in a variety of ways, as well as advising business owners on planning for ownership transitions and realizing optimal outcomes. Colin also has credentials in the field of ESG/sustainability reporting and analysis.
Colin is a licensed CPA in the states of Florida and Illinois as well as Canada. Colin is also a CFA charterholder, Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) and FSA Credential holder (SASB - Sustainability Accounting Standards Board). Colin is a member of the CFA Society of Orlando, AICPA, SASB Alliance, Exit Planning Institute, Miami Finance Forum, Florida Venture Forum, Hedge Fund Association and Association for Corporate Growth (ACG). Colin is a past board member of the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants and CFA Society of the Cayman Islands.
